Windows 11 21H2 computers will stop getting security updates from Microsoft in October 2023, while Windows 11 22H2 PCs will no longer receive updates starting October 2024. Users with Windows 11 21H2 may expect an automatic update to version 23H2 via Windows Update, whereas Windows 11 22H2 devices should receive an update in about 8 months.

Microsoft states:

Windows 11, version 23H2, also called Windows Update 11 2023, is moving into a new phase where qualified Windows 11 devices will be updated to version 23H2 automatically.

This automated update is designed for Windows 11 devices that have reached or are approaching the end of their maintenance period. It is based on machine learning training and will be gradually rolled out to ensure a seamless update process.

You can update your Home or Qualified Pro consumer device to version 23H2 by enabling automatic updates in the Settings > Windows Update section and choosing to verify updates. Once the update is ready for your device, you’ll be able to download and install it.

Will my computer support Windows 11 version 23H2?

Microsoft has not altered the Windows 11 requirements significantly in previous versions, such as excluding CPUs from the compatibility list. Therefore, installing Windows 11 version 23H2 on computers running versions 21H2 or 22H2 should not pose any issues.
