Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 12 will not be released in 2024. The next version of Windows will be “Windows 11 version 24H2” with the codename “Hudson Valley”. The company had previously mentioned the 24H2 version of Windows 11 in its documents.

Microsoft announced in the Windows Insider Blog that insiders on the Dev and Canary channels will observe a new Windows 11 version (24H2) in the system settings, marking an annual update of operating system features.
Windows 11 24H2 has been designated as a yearly update, indicating that Windows 11 will not be released in 2024. Despite Qualcomm’s suggestion of a potential Windows 12 launch this year, Microsoft has opted to stick with Windows 11 for the time being.
Windows 12 is still in the pipeline and may be released in 2025 or beyond, while the upcoming Windows 11 24H2 update is expected to introduce new features possibly linked to Copilot and Microsoft AI integration.
